I agree. The flapping was a bit soothing in explorable areas, but the terrible screech was almost Kuun nagging me to stop going so fast.

Vice Versa.

I don't mind hearing them in towns... Makes things interesting...
Out in the field I can imagine it could get a little distracting though... thats about all. I have no objection to roaring Kuunavangs (though I've only heard the flapping)...

In any case, I'm guessing that TOGGLE would be the best way to go.... given how everyone seems to have an opinion on this and the opposing sides are about even.

Sorry I don’t see how 20 people with Kuunavang running around town making it a point to run past every single person in the town would be considered fun. I would like to be able to run around where you are and let lose with an air horn in your ear that sounds fun right?.

Your ability of solving a catastrophic problem in the game was earth shattering. Why waste your intelligence here when you have this ability to solve global problems is beyond me.

I like it! I think it's cute seeing the mini pets.

I'm confused. Could someone explain to me - without insults or profanity please - why the people complaining about the minipet sounds cannot simply turn off the sounds in their game settings OR mute the sound of their speakers entirely?

I've seen some say they need sound to play the game. I've never had volume turned on, and I've played just fine.

It seems to me that removing the sounds from minipets, when there were already options available to those who wished not to hear them, is about equivelent to amputating a person's foot because they got a scratch and were too lazy to reach for a band-aid.

My thing is if you hated the sounds for the mini-pets. You hated the sounds for the trolls, charr, saltspray dragon, and etc; which also means you hated the sounds for ranger pets, which then continues on from there. In conclusion you hated A-nets sound team decision to implement all sound effects, which means that you want all sounds to be turned off or muted. So you’re logical complaints should have come in, when the pets were in the explor’able areas, had noises in the first place, and not now.

Well at least now I don't have to panic about roller beetle squeeks...

And does anyone else find it rather silly that there can only be 20 per town, or is this somehow acceptable and I'm a tard?

It makes sence to me. Too many mini-pets could cause lag. As I remember that was the original reason mini-pets couldn't be taken out in towns. Having only 20 allowed lets people take their mini-pets out once and awhile without heavily taxing anyones machine. I think its perfectly acceptable.

The limit of 20 is rather good actually..Kamalag takes forever to load as it is, imagine Kamadan dis 1 with 100 minis to render *shudder*

I like the minis in towns, it's fun...they're just cute lol, and ppl are running around chasing them and chatting, imagine that.

As for the sound off issue, I think thats been covered k? dead horse is over there -----------> can we bury it? gettin' smelly

No because we have only a matter of time, before something else gets ditched. Also if you bought what I bought you would be ticked to.

I already seen mini panda, naga, bone dragon and other rare minis last night. I been on different district where peoples don't seem to care about showing off mini pet while some has peoples spamming WTB minis any kind!

it would almost be nice if we had a toggle minipets tab.. or the ability for client side to choose not to render them or track their locations. That way people that want to see and hear them can, and those that dont, arent forced to. Personally I think the whole minipet thing takes away from the look of the game, they are just a little too ridiculous. While there are many others that do enjoy them, I think its best if we atleast get to choose. (Not to mention those with low end PCs might be happier if they dont have to render more models that arent pertinent to thier gameplay experience.)

You're concluding there? Following your logic, it clearly follows that we hate all people and everything else.

Certain pet sounds (mini and otherwise) are really annoying. Particularly the Kuuna. Why should I switch off all sound and miss out on the fantastic score - particularly the great atmospheric music that plays in outposts, just because the kids want to play with their noisy toys? It's like going to a concert and accepting the person next to playing Mario on their gameboy.

This is an issue now, because we didn't have this forced on us before. Pets and mini-pets are an optional part of the game. Hell mini-pets aren't even a real part of the game. They're a cutesy gimmick.

Make it a option sure, but would A-Net do it? I mean I don't know how they gotten this idea to put in mini pet but it's here in front of us now. It's funny how going to ascalon and showing off mini pets can draw attention to you and peoples would go.. "Ohhh... what pet is that"

OK, I've not posted here before, so please excuse the fact that this is my 1st...I generally just read. But I wanted to say, I REALLY miss my mini-pet's sounds. I do understand that some people may have been bothered by the sounds in town, it was a bit loud for me at first, but then I played with my sound options until I found the control that set the volume for the mini-pet sounds and just decreased that. If that is too bothersome for people to have to deal with, then I totally agree with the suggestion for a toggle option. If nothing else, can we PLEASE have sound back when not in a town? I don't really mind if I can't hear my Kuuna's wings in town, but when I am outside I really enjoyed having it, as someone said, the sounds really added character to the minis.

The same fantastic score that you, me and them heard for like 2 million times now?

i'd say it's clear anerf has divided the community with this one (increasingly common occurrence)

the best suggestion i've heard is that you only hear your pet

I don't know if you noticed this or not, but there are always 2 sides of an issue. Making the change just makes the side that was quiet and happy before get loud and annoying, while the side that was annoying before goes to being quiet and making fun of the other side for whining. There were whiners before about OH NOES MAKE PETS IN TOWN, then there was PETS NEED TO STFU, now there's PETS NEED TO MAKE NOISE. See a pattern?

In case my point is unclear: Anet doesn't divide the community. It was already divided before any changes were made.
